Anatomical Studies on theArteries of the Lower Extremity in Korean

Abstract
|
|
|
The author has studied the caliber of the arteries of the lower extremities of 112 Korean in ants(50 males, 62 females)and 50 adults(36 males, 14 females)and the following findings were obtained:
1. No difference could be found in the caliber of the arteries between left and right lower extremities both in infants and adults.
2. In the infants, there were no difference in either sexes in the caliber of the arteries of the lower extremity, but in the adults the caliper is generally larger in the male than in the female.
3. No noticeable growth was recognized during the period of infancy in the caliber of the medial femoral artery, the posterior tibial artery, the posterior tibial recurrence artery, the peroneal artery and the dorsal pedis artery.
4. The calibers of the arteries of the lower extremities of the adults were generally 2 to 3 times larger than those of infants.
